The shooting of a man and a woman early Monday morning in Bellwood resulted in a homicide.
At 1:33 a.m., Bellwood police were dispatched for a report of shots fired in the 1100 block of 32nd Avenue. Officers found the victims at the scene, each with gunshot wounds.
The victims were taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where both were pronounced dead.
A neighbor said she heard her dogs barking around 1:35 a.m. Monday, followed by what sounded like rapid-fire gunshots, according to reports. The neighbor said the couple who live in the home has three daughters and that she’s in disbelief that this happened in her neighborhood.
“It’s very sad, very sad, very shocking,” she said. “I don’t know how their families can get through it. They’re such a close-knit family.”
It’s unclear if the victims were inside or outside the home when gunshots rang out. One of the two people killed was identified as 23-year-old Sincere Aaron. The other victim has not been identified, and officials have not said if they had a relationship with each other or what it is.
Police have not released any additional details about the circumstances of the shooting. The West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is investigating. Police are investigating the deaths as a homicide. No one is currently in custody.
