BELLWOOD | One man was killed and another man was wounded during a shooting on the 400 block of 24th Avenue in Bellwood.
While Jerry McCarter, 41, of Bellwood and an unknown victim sat on their porch on the 400 block of 24th Avenue at around 9 p.m. on Aug. 28 a group of people walked up to them and started shooting, according to Bellwood Police Chief Jiminez Allen.
McCarter was shot in the torso and taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he died at 9:37 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The second and unknown victim, also 41, was shot in the leg and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Allen said. He was treated and released from the hospital.
