MAYWOOD | Maywood patrol officers observed a Red Chevrolet Impala, July 17, 2017 at about 4:10 a.m., bearing an Illinois license and reported stolen from Chicago as an aggravated vehicular hijacking.
When officers attempted to position their patrol units to curb the offending vehicle, the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed and refused to stop for enforcement attempts. The driver fled through residential neighborhoods and into communities adjacent to the Village of Maywood. In the area of Grand Avenue and Oak Street (River Grove) the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. A short foot chase ensued and the offender was apprehended.
