BELLWOOD | A shooting outside a nightclub located in Bellwood is now a homicide scene after one man died of injuries.
The shooting incident happened just after 1 a.m. Monday, January 8, at Avenue 23, located at 2305 St Charles Rd
Police say a brawl started inside the bar that led to several people being kicked out. Bellwood’s Mayor Andre Harvey told West Suburban Journal some of the men took off in their cars, then came back with weapons and opened fire.
Three people were injured, two of the victims are from Chicago and the third victim is from Maywood. The third victim was shot multiple time in the chest and later died. Harvey said he is “heartbroken” over the shooting, which is the first in Bellwood this year. The mayor said of club Avenue 23, “it’s had its share of problems
