National ‘Hour of Code’

Rep Emanuel Chris Welch, 7th Dist, and Dist 88 faculty, welcomed Maya Carter to Roosevelt Middle School in Bellwood to teach 8th graders about computer programming and coding. 60 percent of K-12 public schools in the U.S. do not teach computer science. The average computer programming salary starts at $62,000 a year. As part of Computer Science Education Week, the worldwide “Hour of Code” is designed to introduce students to the world of computer science and programming.
