BROADVIEW | ALDI reopened its doors Sep 13 in the Village of Broadview.
ALDI celebrated the Grand-reopening of the newly renovated store located at 1001 Cermak Rd. with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The first 100 shoppers were welcomed with a golden ticket, each containing ALDI gift cards of various amounts.
A spokesperson from ALDI said the new store and look delivers on its customers’ desire for a modern and convenient shopping experience with a focus on fresh items, including more robust produce, dairy and bakery sections, and more room for customers’ favorite products. The newly renovated store features a modern design, open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials – such as recycled materials, energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting.
Despite a vigorous push by villages officials and community leaders to keep the Maywood-based ALDI open, the Maywood Aldi, located at 216 Madison St., closed its doors on the eve of Christmas, December 24, 2016. The Maywood-based ALDI was the only grocery store located in the town of 20,000 residents.
In a statement about the closing ALDI said, “We take the closing of any ALDI store very seriously. In this case, we made a decision to close this store because there are several ALDI locations in the Bellwood, Broadview and Melrose Park areas that will continue to provide our customers with the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices. All of these stores are within a few miles of the Maywood location. We are pleased to share that all employees are able to transfer to surrounding ALDI stores.”
