The passing of Davis’ son is the second tragedy to hit the Chicago congressman’s family in recent months
In another tragedy, after losing his grandson to violence, U.S. Rep. Danny Davis’ son, Stacey Wilson, father of the deceased grandchild, has, too, died.
Wilson was 47, and is survived by two children, according to a statement from Davis’ office. He worked for the Cook County circuit court clerk.
Wilson’s third child, Javon Wilson, 15, was shot and killed last November in a case that garnered national attention. Investigators initially believed the attack on Javon began as a home invasion, but revised that after finding the teens involved had a history with each other.
Davis’ son had been “complaining of high blood pressure,” the statement said, though the cause of death is not known. Wilson was pronounced dead at home Thursday night, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Autopsy results are pending.
In a statement to the press Davis said, “My family and I appreciate the condolences and concern which have been expressed.”.
