Williams semifinalist for
Gresham top cop
MAYWOOD | Maywood Police Chief Elvia Williams is among 8 semifinalist vying to
lead the police department in Gresham Oregon. Williams, 44, is the first African-
American woman to serve as the Village of Maywood police chief.
Williams has ties with Oregon, and before becoming Maywood’s chief in 2006, she
served as a captain of investigations with the Eugene, Oregon police Department.
Her contract was not renewed by the village in 2007.
